COMMEO advises willy.tel and its shareholders on the entry of the City of Hamburg as shareholder
August 2024 – COMMEO has advised the Hamburg-based telecommunications company willy.tel and its shareholders on the sale of a shareholding to the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg. The investment was made through HGV Hamburger Gesellschaft für Vermögens und Beteiligungsmanagement mbH (HGV), the city’s group holding company belonging to the finance authority.
Hamburg-based company willy.tel is one of the leading fibre-optic telecommunications companies in Hamburg. With the acquisition of a stake in willy.tel, the City of Hamburg aims to further promote the expansion of fibre optics in Hamburg from 2025. willy.tel has a substantial fibre-optic infrastructure and is therefore a suitable partner for realising the City of Hamburg’s goals for fibre-optic expansion in the Hanseatic city.
Dr Johanna Kübler (lead) and Julia Sagasser acted as antitrust advisors for willy.tel and its shareholders.
