Frankfurt am Main – September 2022 – COMMEO advised Semikron, a leading manufacturer of power electronics components and systems, on merger control on the formation of a joint venture with Danfoss’ power electronics division, Danfoss Silicon Power. Both companies will operate in the future under the name ‘Semikron Danfoss’. Danfoss holds the majority of the shares in the joint venture. Power electronics comprises, in particular, power semiconductor modules and power systems based on such modules, which are used as power conducting components in, inter alia, modern motor drives, renewable energies, electric vehicles, charging stations for electric cars, industrial automation systems and power supply systems.
The transaction was notified under merger control rules in multiple jurisdictions in and outside of the European Union. COMMEO has coordinated all merger proceedings and was responsible for the merger filing to the German Federal Cartel Office.
